CC6 2022/23 Season

The fixtures for the 2022/23 season are now shown on the Fixtures tab. Note that, due to the increased cost of hosting events in the New Forest, it has been agreed that there will only be 3 events this season in the forest, and total number of events reduced to 6.

Final individual positions will still be based on best 4 results – so runners will need to complete 4 out of the 5 races they are able to compete in to qualify. As always runners are not allowed to compete in their home race where their team is leading or assisting with the race

Race 8 draft results

We had a beautiful day for the last race in this year’s series. It’s a shame that runner numbers were comparatively low, presumably because of clash with Mother’s Day.

The draft results are attached, please let me or your team captain know if you spot any issues.

Congratulations to Ellie Monks who won the ladies championship, and to Oli Hawkins and Tom Cully who shared the men’s championship. The team prizes go to Totton and Southampton Tri. The various age group winners can be seen on the relevant tabs on the spreadsheet.

Draft Race 7 Results

Here are the results from today’s race. Please let me know (via your club rep) if there are any issues. With one race to go Ellie Monks is guaranteed to be the ladies champ. Oli Hawkins can still share the men’s championship if he wins the final race.

Totton will win the ladies’ team prize baring a disaster in the final race. The men’s team prize could be shared if Lordshill finish ahead of Soton Tri in the last race.

Race Instructions – Race 7 Sun 6th March

WADAC, Running Sisters and Southampton AC invite you to Race 7 of the CC6 race series at Badger Farm this Sunday 6th March, 9:30am start.

Directions: The race HQ and meeting area is on Whiteshute ridge at the orientation table (OS Grid Ref: SU465275), park at Badger Farm Sainsburys (off Badger Farm Road SO22 4QB), please use the far end of the car park by the Community Centre and Friarsgate Surgery.  We have notified the supermarket so you can park until 11am.  Between the Community Centre and the rear of the supermarket are steps down, follow them which turns into a muddy trail up onto the ridge (a 5-minute walk).

The facilities at the Community Centre and Sainsburys/Starbucks are for patrons only.

Course: The course is around 4 miles long.  There is a mixture of grass, mud, chalk and limited tarmac.  We strongly recommend trail shoes. The course starts with a loop on the ridge, a single long circuit behind Olivers Battery and finishing with another modified loop on the ridge, culminating with a climb back to the finish. Expect the usual hazards of roots, uneven trails and low hanging branches.

Cows:  We will be starting in an enclosed area which may have cattle on the day.  The White British Cattle are friendly enough but be mindful of them.  Our marshals will be at all the gates onto and off the enclosed fields, their job will be to make sure you are safe AND ensure the cows don’t try to leave their field.

It is a short walk from the race village to the start so runners will need to start walking down at 9.25am and we may need to modify the start on the day due to unexpected cattle movement.

Be aware that there may well be other members of the public using the area, dog walkers and horse riders etc. please show them courtesy.

Finally, while we will be supplying water at the end of the race, we would encourage you to bring your own drink or reusable cup to the race.

Winchester & District, Running Sisters & Southampton AC
