Welcome to the home of the CC6 Cross Country League. This friendly low-key league, organised by the running clubs of south Hampshire for their members, provides an excellent introduction to competitive racing.
Held in the winter, these local races are free and take place once a month on Sunday mornings, between October and March. Distances are between 4 and 5 miles and have similar locations to those in the RR10.
Races are not timed, but we use a similar results processing system to the RR10 League; runners will be handed a token at the finish line and this will then be scanned together with the runner’s parkrun barcode.
Any new runners who run for one of the RR10 clubs should register via the RR10 registration page: RR10 Registration Page. Runners with clubs who aren’t part of the RR10 league (Soton Tri, Lymington and Winchester Fit Club) will need to register prior to their first race at the following page: CC6 Registration Page.
Once you are registered there is no need to enter races in advance. Just turn up on the day, along with your club shirt, and run!

Race 5 Instructions – Itchen Valley Country Park
Sunday 19th Jan 2025, Race Start: 9.30am
Hamwic, Stubbington, and Netley are hosting the 5th race of the CC6 Season at Itchen Valley Country Park, Allington Lane, West End, Southampton, SO30 3HQ. Parking will be at the site – it is a ticketed barrier on entry, and you will need to pay for parking at a machine before exiting. Please car share as much as possible. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE VERGES OR ON ALLINGTON LANE.
We would like to take the opportunity to request donations for the Southampton food bank, of non-perishable items. There is a link here to provide more information on this:
The collection point will be in the car park near the start/finish area, marked with the red Hamwic Harriers flag.
Cakes and water will be provided at the finish, please bring your own cups / water bottles, and flags and tents will be pitched here.
The course is approximately 7.6km long and a mixture of forest / woodland paths and grass, some sections of which will be muddy and slippery, as well as roots to be aware of… trail shoes are advised. The start and finish is at point A on the map, and the route comprises one small loop of section ‘B’, and 2 large loops of section ‘C’. Please listen to marshal instructions as there will be occasional areas that are narrow, or crossing short but slippery bridges.
The route is shown below, and an interactive version can be found here:

We will be using parkrun barcodes to automate results processing, see details on the CC6 website. Please bring your parkrun barcode on the day.
Spectators are welcome including spectators’ dogs – please note dogs are not allowed on the bridal paths, and please observe instructions provided on signage at the park.
We look forward to welcoming you on the day!
