An update for the next CC6 race at Ashurst Campsite for Sunday 17th February 2019 [Grid location: Grid Ref: SU 33188 09858 – see map].
This year’s course is based at the popular Ashurst Campsite off the main Ashurst to
Lyndhurst Road. Accessible from both directions. From the main entrance to the campsite you will be directed to park by our marshals on the day. Please follow their instructions and do not park on the grass or verges unless you are told otherwise (this is the first time at the venue and the Forestry Commission are very sensitive about this). As ever, please car share as much as possible as parking is limited.
The Start and Finish areas are located in the campsite near the main toilet block (NOT open on the day sorry).
The course is approximately 8km long (5miles) and is made up of approximately 60% gravel tracks, 30% muddy paths and 10% wooded sections. Currently the condition of the muddy tracks is generally quite good and run-able, but may change before the event if we get poor weather. Trail running shoes with a good grip are recommended. The course is not suitable for spikes.
The course map is attached for your information. The course heads out of the campsite, over the railway bridge and into Deerleap Enclosure. The course follows the gravel tracks and a muddy path to cross a footbridge and into Longdown Enclosure. Following a loop of that enclosure it retraces itself back to the campsite. The finish will be to the left of the start point.
There will be a refreshments area and the club tent area will directly in front of that, adjacent to the start point. Please bring your own re-usable cup if possible.
The race will start at 0930 prompt and will be fully marshalled and marked out. The usual
hazards apply!
